PALMVIEW, Texas-Kalynn Walker, the 2023 Duchess of Royal Palms was recognized by the Palmview City Council for her outstanding service during her reign. Kalynn recently received the President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award for contributing 256 hours of volunteer service to the nation and community through AmeriCorps.
The Volunteer Service Award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities nationwide and inspires those around them also to get involved and make a difference.
Kalynn volunteered for numerous City of Palmview events such as the Lighting of the Christmas Tree, National Night Out, and Turkey & Christmas Toy distributions. She also spent many hours reading to people in nursing homes and volunteered at school events and with the Palm Valley Animal Society.
Mayor Ricardo Villarreal presented Kalynn with a special plaque and a medal in recognition of her efforts during the City Council Meeting of March 19. Her achievement of contributing more than 250 hours is a testament to her dedication to making a difference in and around the City of Palmview.
