PALMVIEW, Texas- The paving of Bentsen Palm from Interstate 2 south to Business 83 should be complete by next week weather permitting. In the meantime, drivers are asked to slow down to avoid accidents and to show courtesy for the road workers. State law requires drivers to drive the posted work zone speed limits.
Once the paving is complete, Earthworks will begin paving La Homa from I2 south to Esther Street.
The scope of the project includes a complete overlay of approximately 4,087 linear feet of roadway on South Bentsen and 2,017 linear feet on La Homa. Workers will also stripe both roads.
This project was made possible with federal funds allocated to the City of Palmview by the Hidalgo County Urban County Program. The county program administers Housing and Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to the county to help communities that don’t get CDBG funds directly from HUD.
Palmview was awarded $380,837.00 for the entire cost of the project thus saving Palmview taxpayers money.
The work is expected to take 60 days to complete. Again, drive safely and be on the lookout for workers in the work zone.
