PALMVIEW, Texas- Earthworks has begun a road project that includes improvements to two major roadways in Palmview. The first to be addressed is South Bentsen Palm from Interstate 2 south to Business 83. Once complete the workers will move to La Homa where improvements will be made from I2 south to Esther Street.
The scope of the project includes a complete overlay of approximately 4,087 linear feet of roadway on South Bentsen and 2,017 linear feet on La Homa. Workers will also stripe both roads.
This project was made possible with federal funds allocated to the City of Palmview by the Hidalgo County Urban County Program. The county program administers Housing and Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to the county to help communities that don’t get CDBG funds directly from HUD.
Palmview was awarded $380,837.00 for the entire cost of the project thus saving Palmview taxpayers money.
The work is expected to take 60 days to complete. Drivers are reminded to be on the lookout for detours and road closures throughout the project. As always, the City of Palmview reminds everyone to drive safely and be on the lookout for workers in the construction zone.
