Next City Election: May 4, 2024

Election Notices

As chief elections officer of city elections, the City Secretary ensures compliance with statutory requirements.  Section 2051.152 of the Government Code requires all political subdivisions with the authority to impose a tax, to maintain a publically accessible internet website and post certain information about the next election for officers of the political subdivision, candidate requirements and date/location of the next election.  Additionally, the Texas Election Code requires internet posting of certain additional election-related notices throughout the election process.

Early voting rosters and unofficial results

The City of Palmview contracts with Hidalgo County Elections Administrator to oversee the conduct of the city election.  Their office is responsible for publishing election information on their website on behalf of the city including election notices, sample ballots, voting schedules for early voting and election day, early voting rosters, unofficial election results and provide additional information and tools to facilitate the voting process for the voter. On occassion, a city election "may" coincide with another election being administered by Hidalgo County which would subsequently result in shared polling places as the county provides for county-wide polling places.  County-wide polling places enable qualified voters to access their respective ballot at any of the published polling places during early voting and election day without the necessity of being at their respective place of residence.
